Parkly ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
By using Parkly, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Parkly collects the following types of information:
- Location Data: We collect your device's GPS coordinates when you park your car (either automatically via Bluetooth disconnection or manually). This includes latitude, longitude, and reverse-geocoded addresses.
- Bluetooth Device Information: We collect the MAC addresses and names of Bluetooth devices you select to track for automatic parking detection.
- Photos: If you choose to add photos of your parking location, these images are stored locally on your device.
- Notes: Any text notes you add to parking locations are stored locally on your device.
- App Settings: Your preferences including save delay, notification settings, and automatic detection preferences.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To save your parking location and help you find your parked car
- To automatically detect when you park (via Bluetooth disconnection)
- To display your parking location on maps
- To show you parking history
- To send you notifications about your parked car
- To provide reverse-geocoded addresses for your convenience
Data Storage and Security
- All Data Stored Locally: ALL your data (locations, photos, notes, Bluetooth devices) is stored exclusively on your device in an encrypted local database. We do NOT transmit, upload, or store your data on any remote servers.
- No Cloud Storage: Parkly does NOT use cloud storage or any external servers to store your personal information.
- Database Encryption: Your parking data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database on your device.
- Photos: All parking photos are stored in your device's internal app storage, accessible only by Parkly.
Third-Party Services
Parkly uses the following third-party services:
- Google Maps: When you tap "Navigate to Car" or view addresses, we use Google Maps. This action is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Android Geocoder API: We use Google's Geocoder service to convert GPS coordinates into readable addresses. This requires an internet connection and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
We do NOT share your location data with any third parties beyond these essential mapping services accessed through your device.
Data Sharing
We do NOT sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except:
- When you explicitly choose to share your parking location via the Share button (you control what gets shared)
- When required by law or legal process
Your parking data remains private and local to your device.
Permissions We Request
Parkly requires the following Android permissions:
- Location Permission (Fine & Background): Required to capture your parking location and enable automatic detection when the app is in the background.
- Bluetooth Permission: Required to detect when you disconnect from tracked Bluetooth devices (car stereo, etc.).
- Camera Permission (Optional): Only required if you choose to take photos of your parking spot.
- Storage Permission: Used to save and access parking photos.
- Notification Permission: Required to show you alerts when parking is detected.
You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device's Settings, though this may limit app functionality.
Data Retention
- Parking History: Parkly automatically keeps your last 5 parking locations (1 active + 4 historical). Older locations are automatically deleted.
- Manual Deletion: You can manually delete individual locations or clear all history at any time through the app.
- App Uninstallation: When you uninstall Parkly, ALL your data (locations, photos, notes, settings) is permanently deleted from your device.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data: All your data is visible within the app
- Delete your data: Use the "Clear History" or delete individual items
- Export your data: Use the Share feature to export location information
- Disable automatic tracking: Turn off automatic detection at any time
- Revoke permissions: Manage permissions through your device settings
Children's Privacy
Parkly is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately upon posting.
